INTRODUCTION
Teacher maintains a rapport with the students. Teacher tell the
students, today I am going to tell a story about blood, listen carefully.
PRESENTATION
There were three friends lived in blood happily. They were
erythrocyte, leucocyte and platelet.
The nick name of erythrocyte was red blood cell and that of leucocyte
was white blood cell. Both of them were very proud about their power. They
ignored platelet due to its weaker appearance. One day there occurred a
quarrel between erythrocyte and leucocyte related to their power. Erythrocyte
argued that it can carry oxygen in its haemoglobin and it can so maintain
life. Leucocyte’s argument was that it is stronger because it can fight with
many deadly pathogens. Platelet came and advised to stop
quarrelling, but they didn’t listen that. After some time there began to high
speed flow of blood due to a wound. All three friends began to flow towards
the wound site. They tried to escape from that flow, but couldn’t. When
platelet came nearer to the wound it took some equipment and tried to seal
the wound. At last the platelet won in his effort and both erythrocyte and
leucocyte thanked to it. From then onward they stopped quarrelling and lived
in unity.
ACTIVITY NO: 1
Teacher tells the students to find out the role of blood cells from
this story
CONSOLIDATION
Erythrocyte- Carry oxygen in haemoglobin and help in gas exchange
Leucocyte- It helps to kill pathogens that enter our body thus
providing immunity
Platelet- It helps blood clotting to prevent blood loss during cuts
or wounds happen.
ACTIVITY NO 2
Teacher presents diagrams of blood cells in power
point and tells the
students to compare the diagram and to write about it throgh discussion.
CONSOLIDATION Erythrocyte- They are disc shaped, lack nucleus
Leucocyte- They are nucleated. There are 5 types of leucocytes namely basophil, eosinophil, neutrophil, monocyte and lymphocyte. They possess different shaped nucleus.
Platelet_ They have no definite shape and lack nucleus
